The basis of the unit is language arts but moves beyond to involve research skills, problem solving, and higher-level thinking. The unit revolves around a motivating theme (courage, science fiction, the Olympics, and mythology) and includes ready-to-use activities, teacher directions, student directions, and assessments. The format includes standards, a unit focus, Bloom's learning levels, and suggested products. Web sites and resources are recommended for researching for middle school students.
