Creativity is ‘the production of ideas (creative thinking), accomplished by generating many possibilities and widening focus. It is also the evaluation of ideas (critical thinking), accomplished by narrowing focus and sorting the generated ideas to identify the interesting and unique ones.” (Shade and Shade, 2011). “Learning and innovation skills are what separate students who are prepared for increasingly complex life and work environments in today’s world and those who are not. To think creatively students must use a wide range of idea creation techniques (such as brainstorming); create new and worthwhile ideas (both incremental and radical concepts); and elaborate, refine, analyze and evaluate their own ideas in order to improve and maximize creative efforts.” (Partnership for 21st Century Learning Skills).
Our Creative Thinking resources address the challenge of integrating creative activities into the existing curriculum.
