  1. Carly Ambler

This is the type of book classroom teachers relish! It not only breaks down a lot of the terminology associated with assessment, it discusses the contexts in which they can most effectively be used and models what various assessments could and should look like. The assessments range from formal, sometimes mandated assessments to ways to design and implement formative and informal assessments in the classroom.

One of the most valuable sections of the book is on rubrics. It breaks down form and function and discusses a wide range of possibilities for using different types of rubrics. Finally, the sample criteria cards and nearly 100 rubrics come on a CD for easy and immediate use!
