Postcards from Poe explores the person and works of Edgar Allan Poe and uses thinking skills to challenge high ability learners throughout the study of literature. These activities involve cognitive and creative strategies using 6 levels of Bloom's Taxonomy of Cognitive Development and 8 levels of William's Taxonomy of Creative Thought as well as SCAMPER, synectics, and creative drama. Each week Poe "communicates" to the class through postcards giving pertinent information about the particular work being studied. Students engage in evaluating, analyzing, and synthesizing prose and poetry from this master writer. Includes a study of each of the following: The Fall of the House of Usher, The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Purloined Letter.
