These beginning research activities stress hands-on, observational research as the initial research experience. Students move from observing and easy recording and drawing conclusions to book research projects with emphasis on picture books and beginning encyclopedia projects. Included are research cards from The Research Book for Gifted Programs K-8. Polette also provides research activity models with over 10 picture books. These models can be used with other books.
