Crack the Codes!

These anchor/enrichment activities reinforce basic writing and grammar skills and introduce the study of 12 US presidents (Lincoln), 10 famous thinkers (Einstein), 10 composers (Beethoven), 12 musical instruments (Stradivarius), and 11 popular performers (Pavarotti). Each unit includes a short biography, notable achievements, and and article embedded with secret information. Cracking the code requires students to practice punctuation, spelling, parts of speech, and language arts skills such as synonyms, antonyms, proofreading, and compound words. Activities are correlated to national social studies and language arts standards.
